Project 2: Website Design
At first, this project to redesign InnerView's website was the project we started with. However, we soon realized that InnerView was growing and needed new branding to be ready to position themselves where they want to be in the future. Thus, we pivoted to the branding project first before revisiting their website design. Pausing the project and finishing the branding was very helpful in the website design because we had a clear idea of what the website should contain and look like to speak to the audience they were and are trying to reach.
InnerView
InnerView's vision is "to bring more humanity, connection, and student-empowerment to our system of education." It's flagship course is geared towards helping high school students with their college application essay.
Project Overview
As InnerView grows, it is increasing from only doing the B2B model to also following the B2C business model. InnerView has a big vision, and one of the things the were looking into was the international market. Thus, InnerView decided to focus more on how they can share their courses online rather than only in person.
For this website project, we wanted to focus on increasing student enrollment and helping people that visit the website understand what InnerView is and does.
In collaboration with Anna, another student from the Werth Institute, we assumed different roles. Anna worked as the data analyst to see how we can improve our SEO, and I worked on the main website structure and redesign.
Home Page
To the right is what their home page looked like a little after Anna had done some SEO and before we started working on InnerView's website redesign. You may look through each section with the carousel on the right.
The Good
Anna added a lot of good elements to the website such as the partnerships to show credibility, and the "Join our community!" section to show where other InnerView students come from.
Room for Improvement
However, there are several ways in which the home page could be improved.
In this old website, InnerView uses the "ask your 5 whys" method and a lot of text to explain what InnerView is.
Even though there is a description of what InnerView does, it isn't clear what exactly they are offering, and there is no strategically placed Call To Action (CTA) to increase class enrollment for their main course: Not Just A College Essay.
A Welcoming Home
A Mission With Vision
Here in the hero section. I instead of just the motto "Know yourself, Show yourself, Grow yourself", I thought it would be a good idea to explain what InnerView is trying to accomplish right off the bat so that people visiting the site for the first time can better understand what InnerView is about.
InnerView's Flagship Course
1. In this section we are introducing the course, so Anna designed this section for us to see a lot of faces of previous students in the cohort and showcase the atmosphere held around the classes.
Right in the middle we have the course description and a button to dive deeper if one is interested.
2. A newer edition is a video section for Elie and Mike, the founders of InnerView to be able to directly welcome the students and the parents to the InnerView community.
Can I Trust InnerView?
Right after the course we have two sections for the website visitor to get more comfortable and ease any hesitation they may have to trust InnerView.
1. Our Principles section helps the web visitor to understand what are the core values InnerView has: Support
2. Next we have our testimonials section from previous students emphasizing what they got out of the course and how much they enjoyed it.
InnerView for Schools
This section is relatively new. Although InnerView has its flagship course, Elie and Mike would like to continue to help students who may not be able to pay for the program directly, but have a school with resources to support their growth.
Connect With InnerView
This section is where people can choose to sign up for InneView's newsletter and stay current with what new things InnerView has been up to.
